Stranger Danger

Let me see into the future

Stranger Danger,
Give me an eyesight of a vulture,
Let me see that tree and yonder,
I need to protect myself from danger.

Stranger Danger,
Make me an eagle’s competitor,
Let me see into the future,
I need precise foresight for me to feel safer.

If I can see clearly beyond my arms,
I can quickly run away from harm,
My eyes can sound the alarm,
Give me plenty of escape time.

I would have seen that truck coming,
I could have saved myself that evening,
I would now get to do my traveling,
I would now get to do so many cool things.

Let me see so far away,
Thousands of miles away,
Let me see all the way,
Let me see every which way.

I want to see across town like a white owl hunting,
But I’m fixated on littlest things,
Instead of zooming out, I’m zooming in,
Wasting my precious time on nitpicking.

Stranger Danger,
Do I really need an eyesight of a vulture?
Do I really need to see that tree and yonder
To be on alert for things around the corner?

Stranger Danger,
Fifteen long years after,
I’m still dealing with the damages left by the driver,
Hoping there will be no more of him in my future.

Notes: During one of my vision therapy sessions, I realized and recognized the deep connection and correlation between my own psyche and the behaviors of my eyes! The psyche, the brain and the eyes are intertwined!
