It’s You!
It’s you!
You might not remember us, but I do!
My soul recognizes your face,
My heart anticipates our fate.
I believe in our connection,
I believe you are the one,
We are destined to be together,
We are meant to love each other forever.
But this eagerness is one-sided,
You don’t see me as your goddess,
Instead of exchanging love letters,
You are busy telling me how I can be better.
Our connection isn’t a miracle,
Our bond isn’t irreplaceable,
I don’t meet all your conditions,
You don’t believe I am the one.
It’s you!
You break me; it’s true,
But I’ll piece myself back together,
I’ll love me unconditionally forever.
Eight winters have passed,
Time has revived my heart,
It’s me! I make my own destiny.
It’s me! My happiness is up to me!
Then, on one Sunday morning,
I hear someone talking,
Walking in my direction,
Who is this person?
It’s you!
I don’t remember us, but you do?!
Most things don’t surprise me anymore,
But you approaching me? I’m floored!
You walk over to crack a joke,
A little fun, a little poke,
As if we were long-lost friends,
Celebrating this happy accident.
You must have forgotten the finale of our episode,
You must have forgotten we didn’t end on a good note,
As I watch you extend your fist bump,
My throat is getting blocked by a lump.
“Why are you here?”
Thinking, I don’t want you near,
“I’m taking a class,”
Your answer stops my heart.
My sanctuary has been infiltrated,
My safe space has been invaded,
This is not a happy accident for me,
Is this season 2 of our movie?
It’s you!
How you get so self assured, I have no clue!
The same person has a different face,
But, unlike last time, our fate is not my faith.
